يضم هذا الكتاب عدة مقالات للمؤرخ السوفيتي هسرتيان، حول الحركة التحررية الكردية في المرحلة الواقعة بين الحربين العالميتين في كردستان الشمالية، الواقعة ضمن دولة تركيا اليوم. وقد كتب هذه المقالات في أوقات متباعدة، اعتمد فيها المؤرخ على مصادر مختلفة حسب توفرها، وهي تلقي الضوء على الصفحات المجهولة في مصير الشعب الكردي، وتكشف النقاب عن خلفيات العملية التي خططت لها الدبلوماسيتان الإنكليزية والفرنسية، وبموافقة دول الوفاق الأخرى، لإجرائها على أرض كردستان وعلى حساب شعبها، بغية الهيمنة على البلدان المقتسمة لوطن الأكراد، والتي كانت قد تشكلت حديثاً، حدوداً وحكومات، بمشيئة استعمارية محضة.
فبهدف تشديد سيطرتها الاستعمارية وضمان تحرير مخططاتها مستقبلاً وجدت انكلترا وفرنسا وحليفاتها الأخرى في كردستان خير وسيلة للابتزاز والمساومة، فجزأتها وألحقت أوصالها بأربع دول تحت الانتداب أو تابعة لها. ومن جديد غدت القضية الكردية كبشاً للفداء.
