إن هؤلاء المتميزين يتعلمون ويتذكرون ويحلون المشكلات بفاعلية أكثر من الآخرين، وكان من بينهم قادة وعلماء ومخترعون.
تحاول الدراسة الحالية التعرف أو الكشف عن الوضع النفسي للطلبة المتميزين قبل دخولهم مدرسة المتميزين وبعدها، من وجهة نظر الطلبة أنفسهم، حيث أنهم أكثر قدرة من غيرهم على تشخيص الفروق التي حدثت لهم، وتحديد فيما إذا كانت تلك الفروق لصالحهم من الناحية النفسية والدراسية، أم لا، الأمر الذي يساعد المسؤولين والمهتمين والعاملين في هذه المدرسة على ترصين العمل فيها وتحسين العمل النفسي إلى الأفضل.
