"ضمّ المساء خيوط الشمس يا ولدي، وعادت الناس إلا أنت لم تعُدِ، وأنشب اليأس في صدري مخالبه، وأنفذ الناب تلو الناب في كبدي. يا حبذا يا حبيبي لو أتيح لنا، وقت أتيح لباقي الناس يا سندي، أراك فيه تواسيني، وتسألني... والأهل أهْلُكَ عن أهلي وعن بلدي، وعن هوى خالط الوجدان مقتحماً، بتنا لفرط حُمياهُ على فندِ، يذيبنا وكأن الشوق طوّ بنا، رَهْنَ التملّك في ناموسه الأبدي، أسائِلُ اللامعاتِ الزُهر ما ظهرتْ، أبناؤهنّ بليل رغم معتقدي لعل في ما حَوَتْ أغوارُها خبراً، يوحي العزاء لقلب الذاهل الكمِدِ".
بلوعةٍ وأسى يكتب خليل العقدي ديوان شعره دمعة على حبيب راثياً وحيده جمال عبد الناصر (ولده). باكياً إياه لا بدمعة ولكن بكلمات متفجرةً بالدموع وبأبيات حملت عزة نفس وكبرياء وأسى.
