وتعبر المشاركة الفاعلة في العمل التطوعي في أي مجتمع عن مدى الوعي والنضج والرشد الذي وصل إليه ذلك المجتمع، فنمو حركة العمل التطوعي يساهم بصورة حيوية في النهوض بالمجتمع، وتنمية الطاقات والكفاءات الموجودة فيه بما يخدم مسار التقدم والتطور المجتمعي.
ومن أجل تفعيل العمل التطوعي في مجتمعنا لا بد من نشر ثقافة العمل التطوعي التي تدفع نحو المشاركة الجماعية في أي مجال من مجالات العمل التطوعي وميادينه، فالثقافة التطوعية هي الركيزة الرئيسة نحو إيجاد الأرضية الملائمة لنمو شجرة العمل التطوعي، وتقوية روافده، وتفعيل أنشطته.
وهذا الكتاب يتناول بعض مفردات ثقافة العمل التطوعي، كأنواع العمل التطوعي وأشكاله، ودور الموروث الديني في الحث على العمل التطوعي وأنشطته، ودور المرأة -كما الرجل- في النشاط التطوعي.
ويهدف هذا الكتاب إلى تسليط الأضواء على مفردات ثقافة العمل التطوعي، من أجل تأصيل العمل التطوعي نظرياً، وتفعيل حركة العمل التطوعي عملياً، بما يؤدي إلى تنمية الوعي بأهمية ممارسة العمل التطوعي اجتماعياً، وهو الأمر الذي يساعد على تنمية مسار العمل التطوعي، وتنويه مجالاته وأنشطته وروافده. بما يخدم النهوض بالمجتمع، ويحقق التكافل الاجتماعي العام، ويساهم في تطوير قدرات المجتمع وتنمية موارده، وتقوية مؤسسات المجتمع الأهلي.
