إن الغاية من القصص القرآني ليس مجرد إعلام عما حدث من أخبار الأمم والشعوب، بل أن يكون هذا القصص هادياً للمؤمنين إلى الطريق الصحيح. في قصة يوسف يقول القرآن الكريم "نحن نقص عليك أحسن القصص" فأحسن القصص هنا ليست "الرواية المخيلة" من الواقع وليست "الرواية المصنوعة بمحاكاة الواقع ولكن إنما هو التاريخ والخبر والحقيقة التي وقعت بحذافيرها. أحسن القصص باعتبار أنه مشاهد من التاريخ في حركة وصور وأصوات تتحرك فيها الحياة من خلال أشخاص لا يمكن أن ننسى مواقفهم ودورهم. وقصة يوسف لوحة واقعية من تصوير شتى العواطف البشرية والنوازع الإنسانية إذ أن أحلام الشباب ونظام الأسرة وعلاقة الأخ بأخوته وأبيه وطبيعة المرأة وأخلاق الملوك والأمراء والحكام وسمو طباع الأنبياء كل ذلك مصور فيها تصويراً فذاً رائعاً محكماً كما أن فيها دروساً نفسية تعالج كثيراً مما نعانيه اليوم في حياتنا من المشاكل والصعاب، في حياتنا الحلقية والاجتماعية.
ولم تتضمن قصة من القصص مثل ما جمعته قصة يوسف من البكاء والعداء والمدهشات والمنعشات والتطورات والانقلابات ونصب الأحابيل والحب والعفة والاسترقاق والملك والذل والصبر والفوائد النافعة في الدين والدنيا وإقامة العدل ونظام الدولة ومكر النساء ودراسة طبائعهن والاصطبار على الأذى والعفو عن المجرمين وغير ذلك. ومن خلال ذلك كله، تدخلك القصة في عوالم وأجواء علوية عطرة، وتدفعك من العالم المادي، وتخبرك عن الغيب، وتكرّس لك الحقيقة بأن المعجزة والكرامة مسألة حقيقية وواقعية، وترتفع بالقارئ إلى المستوى المرموق، وتؤهله للسير في ملكوت السماء. إن القرآن الكريم يسرد للقارئ حكاية، هذا البطل الكبير، الجميلة، ويفصح عنها هذا الكتاب السماوي. لكي يفتح للقارئ فصلاً من فصول معرفة الإنسان... هذا الفصل الذي سماه القرآن: "أحسن القصص".
