دعانا إلى ترجمة هذا الكتاب اعتبارات، نجملها في ثلاثة: أولها أن المؤلف لم يضع كتابه هذا، في التغني بحسنات العولمة الحالية، أو التبشير بحسناتها المقبلة، على منوال غير قليل من الكاتبين في هذا الموضوع، كأننا بهم من أصحاب الشركات العظمى يروجون لمنتوج ساحر سيقلب حال بلدان العالم، ويبدلها التحاماً بعد تناء وإقصاء، واجتماعاً بعد فرقة وإلغاء.
وثانيها أن الكتاب يهتم بمراجعة ظاهرة العولمة في حقائقها الكبرى، لا تأسره الرؤية الضيقة التي تقف في تناول هذه الظاهرة عند التعريف بآلياتها التي بها تشتغل، في عالمنا المعاصر، أو تسجنه الاعتبارات العلمية والاقتصادية التي قامت عليها العولمة، إلا من حيث تصب في تلك الحقائق الكبرى التي تنبني عليها التقابلات الوجودية بين عالمين كبيرين جاءت العولمة لتكون صورة أوضح لتصارعاتهما الوجودية، وتفاوتاتهما القدرية.
وثالثها أنه كتاب تبسيطي، يراوح فيه مؤلفه بين سوق مفاهيم العولمة في صيغها النظرية الأصلية، والسعي، موازاة لذلك، إلى عكس تلك المفاهيم على المنجزات والتحققات الفعلية، بحثاً عن وجوه التطابق وتمحيصاً لأوجه الخطأ والخلل.
