إن هذا الكتاب هو من أهم المؤلفات والمصنفات الفقهية الشافعية، والذي له مكانته العالية المرموقة عند طلبة العلم والعلماء نظراً للذخيرة العلمية التي حواها على الرغم من صغر حجمه، مما دفع عبد المجيد طعمة حلبي إلى الاعتناء به، فكان عمله في الكتاب على النحو التالي: 1-قدم الكتاب بترجمة لحياة المؤلف، 2-اعتنى بنص الكتاب فقام بمقابلته على عدة نسخ مطبوعة وأثبت الصحيح منها، 3-وضع للنص علامات ترقيم ليظهر بشكله الصحيح، 4-أضاف فصولاً جديدة في الكتاب بعد أن كان سرداً. ولذلك لتسهيل العودة والرجوع إليها عند الحاجة، 5-وضع عناوين لهذه الفصول لتكون أكثر قبولاً وأيسر دراسة، 6-شرح الكلمات الصعبة والغامضة ومن ثم وضع بعض التعليقات المهمة، وذلك بالاستعانة بشروح عدة السالك، 7-ذكر أدلة من القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية لبعض الأحكام حين الحاجة إليها.
