وقد قال مصنفه العلامة ابن النقيب في بيان قَدْر هذا الكتاب: (هذا مختصر على مذهب الإمام الشافعي. اقتصرت فيه على الصحيح من المذهب عند الرافعي والنووي أو أحدهما. وقد أذكر فيه خلافاً في بعض الصور، وذلك إذ اختلف تصحيحهما، مقدِّماً لتصحيح النووي جازماً به، فيكون مقابله تصحيح الرافعي).
وهذا عمل جليل، يتطلب علماً وتبحُّراً وجهداً، فكان تحقيق النص وتدقيقه، ومتابعة مواضع النقل وتمحيصها وتحريرها؛ موازياً للجهد حسب الطاقة والإمكان.
