كان في نفسي أن أعمّر للقمر والنجوم، وللحب ولحبيبي هناك (في القرية) قصراً من عروق الرخام النقي، أحمل إليه مساكب الورد من بلاد فارس، وعرائش الياسمين من الجزر البعيدة، وأطياب الهند وبلاد العرب، ومجامر البخور وحبات المسك، وأعيش هناك مع القمر والنجوم والحب وحبيبي....
درب القمر سفر فريد في ما خطته أنامل الشعراء والناثرين. ذلك لأنه سجل حي لروح القرية اللبنانية بكل ما تنطوي في السجايا، وفي الطبيعة السمحة فإذا ما كان الكتّاب قد أفاضوا في وصف القرية، ووصف عادات أهلها، وتقاليدهم وأعيادهم، ومواسمهم، فإن فؤاد سلمان قد أوغل، روح أهليها الوادعين، جيران الطبيعة بفطرتها الهنيئة الراضية، وجيران السماء الصافية. أما هذا التعاطي مع روح القرية وروح الطبيعة فحدث عنه ولا حرج، فإنك واجد في فؤاد سلمان استجابة لكل خفقة، وكل نبضة، وكل فطرة تلمع في عين أو تخطر مع نسمة من نسائم القرية اللبنانية. أما عن الحنين، فحدث بما شئت أن تحدث فإن حنين الكاتب ليس بعده حنين.
