تزخر المكتبة العربية على نحو متميز بكتب سيرة المصطفى صلى الله عليه و سلم. وكان الشيخ أحمدزيني دحلان الذي ولد بمكة عام 1886 م واحدا من الذين حازوا شرف الكتابة عن سيرة سيد البشر صلى الله عليه و سلم، فوفى السيرة حقها، و ذهب أبعد من السرد التاريخي لحياة سيدنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، إذ تحدث عن حياة المصطفى صلى الله عليه و سلم الشخصية، و وصف لنا صفات الخلقية و الخلقية، و تعامله مع أهله و جيرانه، و شمائله، و وجب محبته صلى الله عليه و سلم و علامات هذه المحبة. و غير ذلك من الأمور التي ينبغي على كل مسلم أن يعرفها عن نبيه عليه الصلاة والسلام. و يعتبر الكتاب رائدا و متميزا بين كتب السيرة، إذ حظي بالإعجاب والتقدير لما اتصف به من إحاطة شاملة و مفصلة لحياة سيد البشر صلى الله عليه وسلم بأسلوب سهل ممتع بعيد عن الغرابة و التعقيد. وهذا الكتاب مختصر سرى فيه الكاتبالخط التالية: اكتفي بذكر رواية واحدة للحادثة التي كان المؤلف رحمه الله يذكر لها أكثر من رواية. أغفلت الأحداث التي لا تتعلق بالحادثة التي يتحدث عنها المؤلف حين ذكره حياة واحد من الصحابة أو غيرهم. حذف كل استطراد يخل بالتسلسل التاريخي و المنطقي للأحداث, و اكتفي بذكر ما له صلة بالموضوع المطروح. في بعض الأحيان تم تقديم فقرة على أخرى ليستقيم المعنى, تم شرح بعض المفردات التي وجدت بحاجة إلى شرح و تفسير. و قد اضيفت علامات الترقيم المناسبة, بغية ربط أفكار الكتاب و تسلسل عباراته.
