"مصير نوران كان هم جوغر الأول، لم يلتفت إلى من معه في العربة أو إلى القرية، نسي موضوع مالي، في خلفية ذهنه كان يلح شعور بأن نوران لازالت في "مانوماجرا" لا أحد يريد رحيل الإمام "بكش"، وحتى لو أنه رحل مع بقية المسلمين فإن نوران ستكون مختبئة في مكان ما في الحقول …ضاع "جوغا" في أفكاره، بقلق ويغضب بالتناوب،حين أبطأت العربة لتدخل في الدرب الذي يوصل إلى المعبد السيخي قفز منها دون أن تتوقف واختفى في الظلام دون أن يقول كلمة وداع".
في ظل هذه الأجواء تمضي أحداث رواية قطار إلى باكستان ليصور الروائي من خلالها الواقع المأساوي الذي كانت تعيشه الهند في ظل التناحرات الدينية والتسبب الأمني، والانحلال الأخلاقي، كل ذلك لم يمنع من قصة حب جمعت ما بين "جوغر ونورمان" قصة حب شهدت نهاية لم تكن أقل مأساوية من الوضع العام. صاغ الروائي قصته بأسلوب حمل الكثير من اللمسات الإنسانية الاجتماعية والسياسية،حتى أثمرت المادة الروائية التي أتاحت للقارئ مجالاً لقراءتها من زوايا متعددة.
ربما يجد كثير من قراء هذه الرواية صعوبة في الإفلات من اسار مشهد /جوغا/ الخارج من سجنه وهو يرى أن حبيبته قد اقتلعت من قريتها مع أباها المسن وسائر أبناء طائفتها في هذه القرية وحشرت في القطار المساق الى المحرقة دون ان يسمح لها أن تنتظر ولو قليلاً لتودع حبيبها. ولسوف تخنق العبرات كثيراً ممن سيقرؤون هذه الرواية وتتملكهم المشاعر حين يصلون الى مشهد اجتماع أهل /مانوماجرا/ البلدة الصغيرة وهم يناقشون بطلان وجريمة أن يفرض عليهم عنوة قبول تهجير قسم منهم بسبب انتمائهم الطائفي.
كما سيجد القارئ نفسه مُحبَس الأنفاس وهو يتابع في النهاية نتيجة عمل /جوغا/ ليسترخي من بعدها مأخوذاً بجمالية المشهد وما فيه من فرح وحزن.
وإذا كان في هذه الرواية قيمة تهم المؤرخ والسوسيولوجي وطلاب الدراسات الإنسانية عموماً، فإن فيها درساً بليغاً قد يهمنا جيداً في منطقتنا.
