يضم هذا الكتاب بين طياته دراسة نقبت في سيرة ابن سارة الأندلسي الشخصية والشعرية، فتحدث في التمهيد عن ملامح عصر ابن سارة وعن بلده شنترين وحياتها الثقافية، ثم أعطت لمحة موجزة عن الأدب في ظل المرابطين، وختم التمهيد بالحديث عن السمات العامة للشعر في عصر الشاعر، وكل هذا يمثل القسم الأول من البحث. أما القسم الثاني من الدراسة فخصص لتصوير حياة الشاعر تصويراً مفصلاً، وتناول القسم الثالث منها الحديث عن شعر ابن سارة وموضوعات ذلك الشعر وفنونه المختلفة. أما القسم الرابع منها فخصص لتقيم شعره، وبيان خصائصه ومنزلته.
