ثمة موضوعة واحدة، ومفردات متقاربة، يعجن منها محمد يونس مطر قصائده بقدرةٍ مميزة على الإمساك بأسرار البلاغة والبيان والصدق والصورة كما في كل جديد يقدمه للقارئ، حيث الكلمة ترن في ذاتها وتشكل مع أخواتها ما يشبه الدرع الواقي من أي زللَ، وفي هذا اجادة يتقنها الشاعر تصدح بها نصوص (عطر الفرح) في تفلت كامل من القوافي والأوزان والهرولة صوب المحكية اللبنانية تلبية لنداء داخلي ليس أحد من يدركه إدراك الشاعر نفسه، وخاصة عند الحديث عن الوطن والأرض والرفاق فنراه ينشد: "كيف الورد بيفتحو زرارو/ كلما رضي ع الكون نوَارو/ وكيف الفرح بيبان ع المشتاق/ كلما حبيبو استفقدو وزارو/ هيك نحنا صابنا يا رفاق/ لمَا اجتمعنا بعد طول فراق/ الفجر اللي عنَا قبل ترمو فاق/ والبيت زادت لمعة حجارو".
قدم للمجموعة الأستاذ نزار لحاف وقد اعتبر فيها شعر محمد يونس مطر "... شعره فوضى منظمة من الأنغام، في أبياته موسيقى لا رقرقة الجداول أمامها ولا رفيف الفراشات أو غناء العنادل ها هي قصائده في ديوانه "عطر الفرح" تتلألأ كعناقيد فرحٍ في كرم موهبته".
