لولا قلوب العاشقين لما كتب الشعر، والشاعرة "عشتار" تزين حروفها بأصداء روحها، وتترك الشعر منداحاً كما نطلق من قلبها، مخترقاُ قلوب من أحبتهم وأحبوها، ليسكن حلواً، عذباً، عذوبة نصها، وانسيابات قلمها.
تحت عنوان [دهاء أنثى] تقول الشاعرة عشتار: "يا عاشقاً أحببت عشقه/ ... أنتظر محياه وأسرح بخيالي/ إن أطلق بحبي فصاحته/ ... أغض الظروف وأزيد دلالي/ يثور مهدداً لي بهجرة/... تضحك عيوني تقول يا غالي/ قاصدة أهز الريحان أشمه/... كيف إن كنت أنت ريحاني/ بدهاء أثير هدوء هيامه/ ... كم أعشق غضبه الراقي أمامي".
وهكذا، تشكل قصائد الديوان مرآة واقعية لعاطفة كبيرة، لا تحوكها "عشتار"، الأنثى فقط، إنما العاطفة بأسرها، ما يؤكد مقدرة الشاعرة على إعادة تشكيل مفرداتها ووضعها بصيغ تخدم الغرض الشعري.
يضم الديوان قصائد متنوعة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "عاشق ولا أشجع"، "عدوتي الأوراق"، "كبري عقلك"، "من قال"، "وداعاً طرحتي"، "أحيي الفؤاد"، "هذه أنا"، "قيد الروح"، (...) وقصائد أخرى...
