إذا طغى الجمال فجمع بين سمو الجبال ونضرة السفوح، وترقرق الجداول، وزرقة البحر والسماء، رده ذلك إلى خشوع يلصق جبينه بالتراب، ويسلب من عينيه وشفتيه تسبيحة رطبة. وكلمات ومعاني تتقاطر عذوبة متسلسلة في جدول شعره... ووطنه ذاك الحاضر دائماً في قلبه ووجدانه، فإذا اقتطعت ذئاب الاستعمار منه قطعة، فكأنما أكلوا جارحة من جوارحه، وإذا هدروا دماً عربياً في لبنان أو تطوان فكأنما شربوا نُغبة من دمه... وتستحيل مشاعره صرخات تترجمها معاني تتدفق قصائد تحكي حساً وطنياً يعجز عن محاكاته السيف. هو ذا القروي في شعره، وديوانه هذا، هو حياته بكل حيوتها ومنعطفاتها... ديوانه هذا شعور.. وفيض نفس وخلجات روح... تغرد في أرجائه أروع موسيقى تتصاعد من كلمة من معنى من جرس الشعر بل منها كلها مجتمعة... تتلقفها الروح وتشدو بها النفس في كل حين.
