لما كانت البشرية كلها وبخاصة العلماء والدعاة والمرشدين والمصلحين، في أمس الحاجة إلى معرفة المنهج الذي سار عليه الأنبياء أثناء معالجتهم لقضية الشرك، ودعوتهم إلى وحدانية الله تعالى وعبادته وحده دون عيره. فقد ارتأى الدكتور محمد سالم محيسن وضع كتابه الذي بين أيدينا بعنوان "منهج الأنبياء في الدعوة إلى الله تعالى" متحدثاً فيه عن المنهج الذي سار عليه الأنبياء في دعوتهم إلى وحدانية الله تعالى، معتمداً على نصوص القرآن الكريم، وسنة الهادي البشير فيما بيَّن، وهدفه من وراء ذلك التأسى بالأنبياء عليهم الصلاة والسلام والسير على المنهج الذي ساروا عليه، لأنه المنهج الذي هداهم إليه الله ربّ العالمين.
وحتى يلم المؤلف بكافة جوانب موضوعه قام بتقسيم كتابه على تمهيد، وخمسة فصول: تحدث في التمهيد عن الإسلام، والإيمان، من هم الأنبياء والرسل، الفرق بين النبي والرسول، عدد الأنبياء والرسل، أولو العزم من الرسل، عصمة الأنبياء، خصائص النبوة، معجزات الأنبياء، الأنبياء قدوة للبشر، أما الفصل الأول فخصصه للدعوة إلى حملها النبي "نوح" ولشرك الذي تعرض له، وأبطاله له، ولدعوته للتوحيد الله. وتناول في الفصل الثاني موضوع دعوة نبي الله إبراهيم وخلفيات هذه الدعوة، وما واجهة هذا النبي في المشركين...
أما الثالث فجعله خاصاً بدعوة نبي الله موسى وضمنه أيضاً حديثاً عن الشرك الذي واجهه موسى، في حين بين في الرابع أسس دعوة عيسى عليه السلام، ومواجهة المشركين وصلبهم له، وأنهى كتابه بفصل خامس وأخير تحدث فيه عن الدعوة التي حملت النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ومواجهته للمشركين وإبطاله لآرائهم.
