"سوف تبرق في رأسي صورة حية العين.. خضراء مرقطة خلل رذاذ الماء المتطاير في الضوء. ثابتة ومغلفة بجلاء الرهبة. أسمع صوت ماما يأمرني بالتماسك.. "سوف أمد يدي وتراها". أنظر حولي بتوجس. أمسك بيدي حافة الحوض. تتحرك يد ماما والحية ببطء في اتجاهي. أشعر بالخوف وأسمع صوت ماما يطمئنني أنها معي. تنزل الحية من يد ماما في الحوض مسلة تحت رغوة الصابون وصانعة دوامة حولي، يقشعر جسدي وأنا أراها تصعد ظهري، غير أن يد ماما تسارع بالمرور على كتفي، وأشعر بالأمان. أنظر ضاحكاً بخوف ومواربة وأنا أحس بالحية تظهر من خلف كتفي، أضع يدي على رأسها وتستكين. أحس بفم ماما الدافئ يطبع قبلة على كتفي خلال البخار".
وفي أجواء متداخلة وحافلة بالسحر والغموض تنساب قصة حب وصراع الكائنين الفانيين/الأبديين.. الرجل والمرأة، في استعادة غريبة لتدمير الذكورية عالم الأنوثة، ورموز الأم الكبرى، أمام عيني الطفل الذي يروي معاناة ذلك من خلال منفى حقيقي، ومنفى داخلي، على خلفيات حرب الخليج الأولى، ومنافي الدكتاتوريات، وازدواجيات الثقافة.
