الـ(هوميروس) الفلسطيني ما زال يموت عشقاً من أجل فلسطين، وما زالت (بنيلوبي) تحوك الصوف في أشعاره، وتنتظر عودة (يوليسيز) إلى عكا.
عندما غادر (أبو سلمة) حيفا عام 48، ترك وراءه مكتب المحاماة الذي يديره. وترك كتبه وأوراقه وترك مفاتيح المكتب مع صديقه المحامي حنا نقاره.
ويقول أبو سلمى أن طاولته، فيما بعد، كانت أول قطعة أثاث في مكتب مجلة (الجديد) التي صدرت في الأرض المحتلة عام 1951 ولا تزال تواصل الصدور. وفوق هذه الطاولة، كتب توفيق زياد ومحمود درويش وسميح القاسم، وأميل توما، وإميل حبيبي وحنا نقاره، وعشرات غيرهم.
ويقولون بأن الطاولة لا تزال موجودة تنتظر عودة صاحبها، ليكتب قصيدة القصائد.
وبين يدينا مجموعته الشعرية وهي تتألف من قسمين حسب الزمن الأول هو الذي قيل عندما كان في وطنه فلسطين أي قبل سنة 1948 والقسم الثاني هو الذي قيل بعد ذلك التاريخ أي منذ التشرد عن الوطن حتى الآن.
وليس القسم الأول كل ما قاله في وطنه فلسطين قبل النكبة، فلقد فقد منه الشيء الكثير، وكان الفضل في إيجاد قسم كبير منه لبعض أصدقائه الموجودين في الوطن وفي طليعتهم المحامي الأستاذ حنا نقارة رئيس النادي الأرثوذكسي العربي آنذاك في حيفا وأحد القادة الطلائعيين هناك.
وبعد فهذه أشعار، قالها في شتى المراحل، منذ عهد الدراسة والصبا إلى أيام الشباب والنضال إلى عهد التشرد والثورة حتى الآن وهي تعكس ما أحس وفكر به عاطفياً وسياسياً، واجتماعياً وإنسانياً. وقد ضاعت الرواية الشعرية عن ثورة القسام وثورة سنة 1936 مع مقدمة المازني كما ضاع غيرها.
