حافظ إبراهيم الملقب بشاعر النيل، هو من شعراء مصر النابغين والذي ذاع صيته وترددت أشعاره في مشارق الوطن العربي ومغاربه. كان أشبه بالدعاء يتلقى الفيض من شعور الأمة وإحساساتها ومؤثراتها في نفسه، فيمتزج كل ذلك بشعوره وإحساسه القوي، فيخرج منه القول المؤثر الرنان المتدفق بالشعور وقوة العزيمة. وديوانه خير معبر عن هذا الرأي والذي يضم بين دفتي أعمال الشعرية الكاملة التي سيطوف القارئ في أجوائها، فنتشحذ في نفسه العروبة والوطنية والمعاني الإنسانية، كما أنها ستعيده إلى زخم القصيدة المقفاة والتي تحمل من المعاني والعبارات والجسوس الموسيقي ما يكفي لتظل أصداؤها داخل نفسه وعقله ولتسهيل عملية قراءة هذه القصائد، ثم ترتيبها ضمن الأغراض الشعرية والتي يمكن تحديدها كالتالي: المدائح والتهاني، الأحاجي، الوصف، الخبريات، الغزل، الاجتماعيات هذا ما اشتمل عليه الجزء الأول من هذا الديوان. أما الجزء الثاني فقد اشتمل على الأغراض التالية: السياسات، الشكوى، المرائي. وقد تم إلحاق الكتاب بفهرسة للقصائد جاءت ضمن الترتيب الألفبائى للقافية.
