برز أبو الفضل العباس عليه السلام على مسرح التاريخ الإسلامي كأعظم قائد فذّ لم تعرف له الإنسانية نظيراً في بطولاته النادرة بل ولا في سائر مثله الأخرى التي استوعبت - بفخر - جميع لغات الأرض.
لقد أبدى أبو الفضل يوم الطف من الصمود الهائل، والإرادة الصلبة ما يفوق الوصف، فكان برباطة جأشه، وقوّة عزيمته جيشاً لا يقهر.
إن شجاعة أبي الفضل وسائر مواهبه ومزاياه مما تدعو إلى الإعتزاز والفخر له وللمسلمين فحسب، وإنما لكل إنسان يدين لإنسانيته، ويخضع لقيمها الكريمة.
وبالإضافة إلى ما يتمتّع به أبو الفضل العباس من البطولات الرائعة فإنّه كان مثالاً للصفات الشريفة، والنزعات العظيمة، فقد تجسّدت فيه الشهامة والنبل والوفاء والمواساة، فقد واسى أخاه الإمام الحسين رضي الله عنه في أيام محنته الكبرى، ففداه بنفسه ووقاه بمهجته.
ولأهمية حياة العباس ودورها في توعية المسلم تناول المؤلف سيرة أبي الفضل العباس رائد الشرق والكرامة لهذه الأمة - بالبحث والدراسة بهدف إعطاء صورة متميّزة وكاملة عن حياته.
