يتناول المؤلف الأصول (السلالية) للشعب السوري القديم، ويتحدث عن الصابئة الحرانية، الذين عظموا الآلهة المحلية والفكر اليوناني الفيثاغورثي، ثم يتعرض لفلسفة أفلاطين وتأثره في الشارع الرهاوي بوريصان، القائل بثنائية الوجود بين النور والظلمة، ويرى أن النفس الإنسانية الصادرة عن الله ستظل تسعى للعودة إليه ثانية، بعد سلسلة من العذابات بتبديل الأجساد الإنسانية والحيوانية (التناسخ). ثم يحلل كتاب التاسعات ليشرح فكرة الثالوث المقدس المكون من الواحد والعقل والنفس، ويبين العلاقة بين العلم الإلهي عن الحرانية وكيفية إتصالها بالفكر الإسلامي، ووصول العقيدة الحرانية إلى دار الحكمة وإلى الحاكم بأمر الله، ويوضح كيف أثرت تلك العقيدة في تفسير الموحدين لعقيدة التجلي والعناية الإلهية والمعاد والقيامة والتقمص...الخ
ويحاول أن يقدم صورة حقيقية عن الحاكم بأمر الله داحضاً افتراءات بعض المؤرخين.
ويبين معنى الدين واليقين، ثم يناقش فكرة التجسد الإلهي للحاكم، وخلود النفس. ويتعرض للحدود الخمسة والصراعات التي حدثت داخل تركيبة الجماعة. ويتناول رسائل الحكمة ومضمونها الفكري والديني... موثقاً ذلك كله من خلال رسائل الحكمة.
