إن من مفاخر هذه الأمة التي زانها الله تعالى بها هو وجود جادتين صحيحتين، لا يزال لهما الخلود منذ بدء الدعوة المحمدية إلى قيام الساعة، وهما كتاب الله وسنة رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم. ولا يزال فضل الله على هذه الأمة سابغاً بأن تكفل سبحانه بحفظ كتابه الكريم، وقيّض رجالاً لحفظ السنة والذود عنها، فكان من بين أولئك الأعلام الإمامان البخاري ومسلم، فقد حاز كتاباهما القبول عند الأمة حتى نعتا بأصح الكتب بعد كتاب الله تعالى. لذا فقد كثرت شروحهما والعناية بهما، وهذا الكتاب هو أحد مختصرات صحيح الإمام مسلم، للإمام النووي رحمه الله. لقد اهتم الإمام النووي بشرح صحيح مسلم، ثم أضفى عليه عصارة فكره في تهذيبه وتبويبه بحيث أصبح قريب المأخذ سهل التناول أراح القارئ من كثرة المتابعة بين الأسانيد.
وإن أهم ما يتميز به هذا المختصر:
- تجريد الأسانيد.
- عدم حذف أي من أحاديث الأصل.
- الإبقاء على ترتيب الصحيح إلا ما ندر.
- اقتصاره على الأحاديث والآثار الضرورية من مقدمة الصحيح.
- زيادة البيان والإيضاح في تفصيلات عناوين الكتب والأبواب.
أما عن عمل المحققين فقد تمثل في الاعتماد على ثلاث نسخ خطية ذات محاسن جمة إذ فيها الكثير من الشروحات إضافة إلى المقابلات وإثبات فروقات كثيرة، وفوق ذلك عليها سماعات كبار العلماء. ثم إنهما قاما بضبط الكتاب بالشكل التام، وصدراه بترجمة للإمامين مسلم والنووي، ورقما الأحاديث والأبواب، ونبها على فوارق النسخ، وختما العمل بفهرس لموضوعات الكتاب.
