كتاب صحيح مسلم هو كتاب في غاية الصحة في الحديث النبوي وفي جودة التصنيف والترتيب بلغت أحاديثه نحو عشرة آلاف حديث أو (7275) وهو الأدق، حديث دون المكرر، وجمع المكرر اثنا عشر ألف حديث (1200) صنفه الإمام مسلم من ثلاثمائة ألف حديث مسموعة، كتبها في خمس عشرة سنة، وهو أحد الصحيحين المعمول عليها عند أهل السنة في الحديث. أفاد العلماء منه الكثير واستنبطوا الأحكام العامة والخاصة منه، واحتجوا بكل ما ورد فيه في المنابر وكتب الفقه والتفسير والسيرة والنبوءات. رتبه الإمام مسلم على أبواب الفقه أحسن ترتيب، فهو يجمع ما يتعلق بالباب في موضع واحد بأسانيده التي يرتضيها. وقد تميز بكونه أسهل تناولاً من كتب الصحاح الأخرى حيث أن جعل لكل حديث موضعاً واحداً يليق به، يورد فيه جميع ما يريد ذكره من أسانيده وألفاظه المختلفة، ليسهل على الناظر النظر في وجوهه واستثمارها.
وقد تم إخراج هذه الطبعة من المسند بحلة معاصرة بعد الاعتماد على طبعة الأستاذ "فؤاد عبد الباقي" الذي قام بخدمة هذا الصحيح وبالعودة لعمل المحقق نجده قد اهتم أولاً: بقراءة الكتاب وتصحيح ما وقع فيه من أخطأ وتصحيفات. ثانياً: وضع فهرساً مختصراً للكتاب، ابتغى من ورائه التيسير على القارئ، ليجد بغيته دون كبير عناء. ثالثاً: أثبت في ترويسة الكتاب الرقم العام المتسلسل للأحاديث مع رقم الكتاب وعنوانه وأرقام الأبواب فيه.
