وهو موضوع بكر، لم تتناوله درساتنا الحديثة لإيفاء حق رجل أمدها من روافد علمه بكتب لا يكاد يستغني باحث عنها في دراسة أي جانب من جوانب أدب القرنين الثالث والرابع الهجريين وجاءت الدراسة ضمن ثلاثة أبواب: تناول الباحث في الباب الأول دراسة لحياة الثعالبي وثقافته وقسمه إلى فصلين. ودرس في الباب الثاني نقد الثعالبي فمهد له تمهيد وقسمه إلى فصلين. أما الباب الثالث فقد عرض فيه لدراسة أدب الثعالبي وقسمه إلى تمهيد وفصلين.
