في هذا الكتاب مذكرات سجين ينقل من خلالها مشاهدات حقيقية عاشها شاب في غياهب سجون العراق (صدام). واحتوى الكتاب على ثلاثة فصول وثلاثة ملاحق. الفصل الأول: يشير إلى الأحداث التي عاصرها المتحدث صاحب التجربة قبل السجن. الفصل الثاني: يتحدث عن عشر سنوات من عمره داخل السجن. الفصل الثالث: يتحدث فيه عن الأحداث التي مرّ بها بعد هروبه في السجن. أما الملاحق فكانت على التوالي، الملحق الأول: الانتفاضة الشعبانية معاناة ربع قرن. الملحق الثاني: أسرة آل الحكيم. الملحق الثالث: وثائق مصورة عن مأساة الشعب العراقي في ظل نظام السلطة الحاكمة.
