جاء عن النبي محمد (صلى الله عليه وسلم) أن الدعاء عمود الدين ونور السموات والأرضين" وأحاديث أخرى كثيرة في التأكيد عليه سجلها الرواد الأوائل في كتبهم القيمة والتي لا زالت إلى اليوم ينبوع خير ومصدر رحمة ونور تستضيء البشرية المعذبة على هذه البسيطة، فما زخرت به كتبهم كانت حقاً كنزاً هائلاً في الأدعية، ومنها كانت هذه الأدعية، ونصوصها ضمن قصص سجلها أرباب التاريخ اقتبس منها "محمد حسن صادق الطعمة" شذرات وجعلها في كتابه هذا الذي عنونه شذرات من قصص الدعاء وصنفه إلى ستة أبواب فمنها ما يلي: الباب الأول: قصص أدعية للرزق ونفي الفقر، الباب الثاني: قصص أدعية للخلاص من الشدائد والنجاة منهم، الباب الثالث: قصص وأدعية لشفاء الأمراض، الباب الرابع: قصص وأدعية لغفران الذنوب، الباب الخامس: ضمنه قصص الأدعية ولتوسلات المتعلقة بالنبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم) والأئمة الطاهرين عليهم السلام في الشدائد، الباب السادس: ضمنه مجموعة من القصص المتفرقة والتي لم يدخلها تحت أي عنوان.
