هدفت الحلقات الدراسية التي كانت تعقد في مركز الدراسات المسيحية الإسلامية في جامعة البلمند هو صياغة رؤية مشتركة واحدة تخص المسيحيين والمسلمين معاً في سعيهم نحو حياة أفضل وتحقيق أكمل لقناعاتهم. و"الدين والدنيا في المسيحية والإسلام" كان عنوان الحلقة الدراسية الصيفية الأولى التي نظمها المركز، وما انتقاد هذا العنوان لهذه الحلقة الأخيرة معبّر عن غاية العاملين في المركز ونيّتهم. فبينما تنعت المسيحية بالتنزيهية انطلاقاً من الاستشهاد بقول السيد "أعطوا ما لقيصر لقيصر وما لله لله"، ينعت الإسلام بأنه دين ودنيا وكأن في ذلك حط من مضمونه الروحي. فكان لا بد من أن يتذاكر الشباب، أتى من بلاد عربية مختلفة وذات انتماءات دينية متشعبة وبإمامة أساتذة مسيحيين ومسلمين، حول صحة هذه المقولات وأبعادها سعياً لتوحيد رؤيتهم فيما يسعون إلى وحدة في المصير.
هذا وقد ناقش المجتمعون ولفترة سبعة أيام هم الدنيا في المسيحية المتمثل بالتوق إلى العدالة ونصره المظلوم والخدمة على مذبح الفقير، كما ناقشوا بالحس النقدي نفسه التوق في الإسلام إلى اعتبار الدنيا ممراً ليس إلا، وما احترام التنظيم فيها إلا لجعل الخليقة أمينة لباريها لا لكي تحل النظم مكان السعي المحمود إلى مرضاته تعالى. ولم تكن محاضرات المطران جورج خضر الدكاءة رضوان السيد ومحمد سليم العوّا وجولييت حداد وأحمد بيضون وخالد زيادة ويورغن نيلسن والأب لويس بواسيه والأب كريستيان فان ينسبن، إلا مداخل للنقاش والحوار والتعرف بالعمق إلى أوجه اللقاء واستكشاف أفق التوافق مع احترام الاختلافات التي تبقى قائمة مشكلة النكهات الخاصة بكل من الأديان، من دون أن تعطل عملية البلوردة الموحدة التي هدفت إليها الحلقة.
