تتخذ مظاهر الصراع البشرى منذ بدء الخليقة أسلوبين: صراع فكرى، وآخر يغلب عليه الطباع العضلى. وما يعرف الآن فى ميدان القتال بحرب التكنولوجيا، فلا زالت العضلات تلعب فيه دوراً رئيسياً. ولا يخلو عصر من الصراع الفكرى، فاختلاف الآراء- وهو نوع منه- علامة على حيوية المجتمع، ومقدمة حتمية لتطوره، إذا أراد كل طرف الوصول إلى الحق حيثما كان. أما التقليد- وكذلك حمل الناس على أن يعتقدوا بقدسية رأى بشرى، عن طريق كبت المعارضة بقوة الحديد والنار- فهو نذير بانهيار المجتمع، لأنه يقضى على البراعم الفكرية فيه، ويوقف قلبه النابض بالحياة.
وغالباً ما ينحو الصراع الأيديولوجى بين الطوائف- وبين الشعوب- المختلفة فى عقائدهم، ومذاهبها الدينية والسياسية، منحى التعصب للمبدأ، فيلجأ المفكرون إلى ما يدعم رأيهم، وإن كان منافياً للمسلمات الأولية، وحينئذ يشتد الجدل، وتكثر المحاورات التى قد تؤدى إلى صدام مسلح، وعندما تضع الحرب أوزارها، يتجه الحوار وجهة أخرى، إذ يتساءل المهزوم عن أسباب هزيمته: هل يرجع ذلك إلى ضعف أيديولوجيته عن الصمود أمام العدو؟، بل قد يتسرب الشك فى صحة العقيدة إلى ضعاف النفوس، والمترددين فى قبولها.
والكتاب الذى نقدم له، هو إحدى مظاهر هذا الصراع، وقع اختيارنا عليه لأنه يتناول مسائل ذات أهمية كبرى لمن يهتمون بدراسة علم مقارنة الأديان. وليس أمامنا الآن سوى مخطوطة واحدة، عثرنا عليها مصورة فى مكتبة الجامعة العربية وهى تحت رقم 225 توحيد، والنسخة الأصلية فى مكتبة أحمد الثالث باستانبول تحت رقم 1863.
ونظراً لضيق الوقت، رأينا أن نخرج الكتاب، معتمدين على هذه النسخة فقط، آملين أن يهدينا البحث- بتوفيق الله- إلى العثور على نسخ أخرى، نرجع إليها- إن شاء الله- فى الطبعة الثانية، التى سنضمها أيضاً نبذة عن الإسلام فى الأندلس، ودراسة لحياة مؤلف الكتاب. وقد آثرنا فى تخريج فقرات الكتاب المقدس، أن نثبتها كاملة، حتى لا يضطر القارئ إلى الكشف عليها، لأن فى ذلك مشقة عليه. وكذلك الأمر فى الآيات القرآنية، التى أشار إليها النص، أما التى ذكرت كاملة فيه، فقد اكتفينا بتخريجها فقط.
