تؤدي مستندات النقل دوراً محورياً في تنفيذ صفقة الاستيراد/التصدير، وفي توفير الضمان لعلميات التمويل والدفع المعنية، كما أن هذه المستندات تتضمن بطبيعتها تفاصيل أكثر من ذلك إذ أنها تعتبر الأكثر أهمية في عمليات التجارة الدولية لأنها تمثل الدليل الأول الذي يرتكز عليه البنك المتداول أو البنك مصدر الاعتماد في التأكد من أن المستفيد قد قام بشحن أو نقل البضاعة المطلوبة وبالتالي دفع قيمة المستندات.
وفي هذا الكتاب يعرض المؤلف لأصول فحص المستندات المقدمة بموجب الاعتمادات المستندية وذلك عبر خمسة فصول، في الفصل الأول قدم بعض المعلومات الهامة عن مستندات النقل وعملية الاعتماد المستندي الأساسية. وفي الفصل الثاني، تحدث المؤلف بالتفصيل عن مستندات التأمين التي تؤمن الغطاء ضد الأخطار على البضائع خلال الرحلة من المستفيد بلد التصدير إلى بلد أخرى.
وعرض في الفصل الثالث للمستندات المالية مثل السحب أو التعهد بالدفع وهي مستندات قانونية تثبت المطالبات بالمبالغ المستدانة. وفي الفصل الرابع عرض المؤلف للمستندات التجارية، ومن الذي يصدرها ومحتويات المستند والهدف الذي صدرت لأجله. أما الفصل الخامس والأخير فخصصه لتعليم أخصائيي الاعتمادات المستندية كيفية فحص المستندات وإتباع الإجراءات الصحيحة في عمليات الفحص كما خصصه لتمكينهم من فهم مواد الـ ucp المتعلقة بفحص المستندات.
