كتب عبد العزيز البشري يصف بدوياً رأى الراديو لأول مرة ولما ذهب إلى أهله، وصفه لهم بقوله: حولت بصري، فإذا دمية من خشب، بتر ساقاها، فأقعدوها على منضدة لها عين واحدة، تمزقت حدقتها، فبناثرة في بياضها، تناثر النمل على صفحة الرمل، فلما عرك صاحبها أذنها، سرعان ما أحمرت حدقتها، ثم سمعت لها حسيساً "صوتاً" ما لبث أن استحال زمزمة وهمهمة، فخلت الأرض قد زلزلت عليّ، فجمعت ثوبي للهرب، وجعلت ألتمس آية الكرسي، فهدأ صاحبي من روعي، وقال: هوّن عليك. فقلت: هذا العفريت؟ لم ينالك منه مكروه. فقد قيدوا ساقه، وشدوا وثاقه. أيسجن سليمان المردة في قماقم من نحاس، أو ذهب، وأنتم لا تبالون تسجنوها في قماقم من خشب؟
ثم مال صاحبي على الدمية، فعرك أذنها ثانية، فسرعان ما سكن هديرها، وبطل زئيرها، وإذا العفريت يتحدث في لين صوت، واطمئنان نبرة، ثم سمعت معازف أخرى تتنغم وتترنم، حتى خلتها من جودة الإيقاع تتكلم.
الضحك نوع من اللعب.. إنه انفلات من قيود المنطق، وهروب من الرتابة والانتظام.
والضحك يرتبط بالوعي.. فالإنسان يضحك لأنه، على عكس الحيوان، يعي الحقائق ويدرك التناقضات.
إن أجمل أيام العمر هي الأيام التي نقتطع منها ساعات ننسى فيها الألم والتعب والحرمان ونستغرق في الضحك والمرح.
إن عالماً يخلو من الضحك هو عالم رتيب كئيب وغير مرغوب فيه.
