يدور موضوع الكتاب حول فلسفة الترقي والولاية عند محيي الدين بن العربي، ولما كان المترقي يصل من خلال علومه إلى أعلى درجات المعرفة اختارت مؤلفة الكتاب كشف هذه الخاصية عند ابن عربي فجعلت دراستها على جزئين: الجزء الأول: ويحتوي على حياة الشيخ وطريقته وفلسفة الزمان والمكان في حياته. والجزء الثاني: يضم النصوص الذي اختص بها ابن عربي، ولم يذكرها أحد من قبله من علماء التصوف.
وعودٍ على بدء. إشتمل الجزء الأول على ثلاثة فصول تنقل رأي ابن عربي بنفسه في المقدمة من دفاعه عن الصوفية وعلومها وعن نفسه وعمله، .. إضافة إلى أقواله الهامة في طريقته، وذكره، ونصائحه لمريديه والسائرين على دربه، والبحث عن اسرار الله تعالى في خليقته، والأسرار في خلق ابن آدم، وغير ذلك من علوم لم يذكرها أحد غيره سوى الأنبياء ممَن علم هذه العلوم.
وأما الجزء الثاني فقد اشتمل أيضاً على ثلاثة فصول تنقل نصوص الاسرار مما عانيه، وعرفه، ونقله ابن عربي من مشاهداته وعلومه عن الملكوت في إسرائه ومعراجه وعلومه اللاهوتية.
يلوح لي أن الدّكتورة منى أحبّت ابن عربي أكثر مما يجب، لذا؛ قررت أن تكون كما يُحبّ هو نفسه، أو كما رسم صورة الإنسان السّامي في معظم مؤلّفاته. ولعلّ هذا ما أدى بها إلى الخطوة الأولى على طريق الإنسان الكامل. وبما أن الخطوات اللاحقة لا تتمّ بالمجّان، لذا؛ قدّمت هذا الإنجاز المعرفي المستلقي أمام العيون المبصرة بفصوله المتلاحقة، والتي لا أستهدف الوقوف لدى كل منها، ولا استعراضها، لئلا أختلس المتعة ممِّنْ سيُبحرون في قراءتها. وإنما أريد القول؛ بأن الجهود المبذولة في تأليف موادّ هذا الكتاب؛ تستدعي منَّا كثيراً من الذّهول.. وإلى درجة يمكن القول فيها، بأن كل مَنْ يريد إقامة عناق أبدي مع الشّيخ الأكبر؛ بإمكانه الاستغناء عن كثير مما كتبه الكاتبون عن ابن عربي؛ وخاصَّة المصنّفون منهم ممَّنْ لا علاقة لهم بأبجدية التّحليل المعرفي على الإطلاق. ذلك أن غزارة المعلومات المدوّنة ومنها ما خطّها قلم ابن عربي نفسه تجعل صورته واضحة أمام الملأ.
