"...على المرء أن يتنازل أحياناً عن أحلام كثيرة، في سبيل إنقاذ ما تبقى له من حياة، قد يستطيع فيما بعد أن يبتدع فيها أحلاماً جديدة، ربما تحققت جميعها".
ربما كان هذا المقطع يشير نوعاً ما إلى المقولة التي أراد غسان أبا زيد أن يقولها في "المبروكة"، عبر بعض الشخصيات التي تتفق ورؤيتها للمستقبل، لكن تختلف في مدى قدرتها على بلوغه. ولعل شخصية "أبو الحسن الصغير" تعبر إلى حد ما عن هذه الإشكالية، حيث حاول الكاتب أن يرسم من خلال صورة الإنسان العربي المأزوم بالحب والانتماء، والطامح لتحقيق أحلامه في مجتمع "خرج من التاريخ منذ خمسة قرون".
لقد سعى الصغير جاهداً لبناء مدينته العربية الفاضلة، مدينة الحلم التي يردي أن "يرفع كل منا رأسه عالياً تحت سمائها، ويصرخ حتى تهتز الدنيا برمتها.. أنا عربي".
فهل نجح في تحقيق ما صبا إليه؟
المبروكة.. لوحة صغيرة امتزجت فيها بشكل كثيف ألوان الحلم والخيال بألوان الحقيقة والواقع. لكن معالمها تبقى شديدة الوضوح والتأثير لقارئ يبغي الوصول. وبالرغم من مغامرة الرواية الأولى بشكل عام، إلا أن الكاتب الشاب استطاع أن يقدم لنا رواية جديرة بالإثارة والاهتمام.
