"المزار" هو معبد ذو خصوصية يكلل رابية تطل على بلدتي الباروك والفريدسي الجميليتين في جبل لبنان، رواد ذاكرة الدكتورة "نازك أبو علوان عابد" وذهبت بعيداُ إلى أيام الطفولة حين "أذكرني طفلة أرافق عمتي إليه لتلتقي وأقراناً لها، نستمع معاً إلى ترانيم شجية، وىيات تتلى! أخشع، أسجد متأقلمة بعفوية، دون أن أعي الأبعاد.
يضم الكتاب مجموعة من الخواطر التي تتجاوز كل قيد وشرط، منعتقة من قيود الرموز والغايات، تبوح بها الأديبة عبر ذاكرة تراكمت على امتداد عشرات السنين، تختصر حالات نفسية كحال الأيام وما فيها من تباين. وتحولات؛ ولكنه يلمس الثابت، إيماني الكبير بالله، المنصر دوماً، وابداً، المتجاوز، والذي حوَل الذات معبداً يغمره النور، وفرح الوجود –العالم الداخلي". وعن المزار تقول (... المزار هيكل من هياكل الله، والهياكل الأولى القلوب المتوحدة، الموحَدة: "قبلة الحق في الذات"، أجلَه، أجل العباد "ذوي الكنز الذي لا ينضب معينه، لأنه من كنوز الأولين"... "توحَدوا فعرفوا"!
تقول في نص بعنوان "مأتم ابن عمي": "... من وحده بجيل وحَده بكل الأجيال" حقيقة امتلكتني كما هي دوماً وأبداً، الروح الخالدة، تلبس الجسد هيكلاً لها، فهي ليست لزمان أو مكان، هي طليقة مطلقة الوجود، نحن ودائع عند آباء ومهات لمرحلة عابرة، فطوبى لكل من آمن واعتبر..."
