في كتابه "فن التلفزيون: من الهوائي إلى الشاشة" يقدم الدكتور المهندس رشدي الحديدي خلاصة تجربته في الصناعات الإلكترونية بما في ذلك التلفزيون، فكان هذا الكتاب عن هندسة التلفزيون، والغاية العمل على خلق فنيين ممتازين في هذا الإتجاه، بالإضافة إلى رفع مستوى الفنيين العاملين في هذا المجال. أما المنهج الذي اعتمده المؤلف فمبني على خبرات أعمال التلفزيون، مع معالجة الأسس النظرية لهذا الفن، وقد راعى المؤلف أن يكون الشرح سلساً بطريقة سهلة ومباشرة يفهمها أي شخص عنده ميل للمسائل الفنية.
يتألف الكتاب من (15) باباً، وضع المؤلف في الباب (1) مبادىء عامة. وخصص الباب (2) للشاشة. أما في الباب (3) فتكلم عن الإشارة المرئية المركبة ونماذج الإختبار والإرسال. كما تناول في الباب (4) دراسة الهوائيات وخطوط التغذية لما لها من أهمية بالغة للإستقبال السليم للإشارة. وفي الباب (5) محاولة من المؤلف لاستعادة مجمل المعلومات عن الكهرباء والإلكترونيات من وجهة نظر التلفزيون، تمهيداً لدراسة دوائر التلفزيون بالترتيب حسب دخول الإشارة إلى الجهاز وسريانها بداخله. فتكلم عن مُنتخب القنوات، وقسم الترددات البينية للصورة، وقسم الصورة، وقسم الصوت، والتزامن والإنحراف الرأسي، والإنحراف الأفقي والضغط العالي، وأخيراً وحدة التغذية. وهكذا تكون الإشارة قد وصلت من الهوائي إلى الشاشة ويكون المؤلف قد وصل للباب (12). وأما في الباب (13) فيشرح أجهزة القياس وطرق ضبط جهاز التلفزيون. وأما في الباب (14) فيتكلم عن التداخلات والشوشرة وتحديد الأعطال والصيانة. وفي الباب الـ (15) والأخير يضع المؤلف ست دوائر كاملة ويتناولها بالشرح وهي تمثل مختلف الأحجام ومختلف التكنيك العالمي للتلفزيون.
