أراد مؤلف هذا الكتاب أن ينال رضا الله ورسوله بعمله هذا فعمد إلى جمع هذه المجالس الشريفة، من مجالس الشيخ الكاشي وهو من مشاهير الخطباء الذين يعرفهم المنبر الحسيني. وهو في هذا يرجو أن يكون كتابه طريقاً إلى خدمة أهل البيت، وإحياء لأمرهم.
وقد حوى الكتاب مدائح في أهل البيت وتعريفات لكل واحد من الأئمة المعصومين وقد جاء الكلام قليلاً في مقام النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والأئمة المعصومين من عترته الطاهرة، وليس ذلك بسبب القصور والجهل والعجز، وإنما كما يقول المؤلف إن ما نصل إليه من قشور في معرفة شخصياتهم المقدسة إنما هو على قدر فهمنا وليس على قدر شخصياتهم. وحيث أن شخصية المعصومة ذات جنبتين، جنبة بشرية وحنبة يتصل بها الإمام عليه السلام بالملأ الأعلى، فلا العلماء ولا الفلاسفة ولا العرفاء ولا الحكماء العاديون يستطيعون معرفة شخصية الإمام لأنها لا تتيسر إلا لمن وصل إلى مقام العصمة.
