في هذا الكتاب يلملم واجد أحمد دوماني ما بقي من حديث الذاكرة ويضعه تحت عنوان (وجدانيات) يسجل فيه ذكريات ومواقف من تجربته الحياتية الخاصة، فهو سليل عائلة عريقة فقد تخرج والده من المدرسة الحربية في استانبول برتبة ضابط ملازم، وكانت أسرته تقيم في مدينة أضنة التركية، وكان الجد الأكبر يملك أراضٍ زراعية، وعقارات ما أهلَه لمناصب عدة.
وفي هذا السياق يذكر الكاتب رحلته في هذه الحياة منذ زمن الإنتقال إلى بيروت في العام 1949م، وما رافق ذلك من أحداث حيث كانت الحياة في لبنان صاخبة إثر إنقلاب قام به حسني الزعيم عام 1949م، وأحداث أخرى منها النكبة واحتلال فلسطين وتوقيع إتفاقية الهدنة بين لبنان وإسرائيل.
وفي الكتاب أيضاً يذكر المؤلف حياته الجامعية في بيروت وعمله في مدارس المقاصد الإسلامية وسفره إلى الكويت وعمله الديبلوماسي، وأصدقاء الدرب ممن أحبهم وأحبوه في بلاد عربية زارها من حكام وشعراء وأدباء ومفكرين أمثال الشاعر نزار قباني وزوجته بلقيس والشاعر عمر أبو ريشة والفنان فيلمون وهبي والفنان العراقي منير البشير والأديبة غادة السمان، وكثيرون غيرهم من صحافيين وسياسين وكل ما شهدته تلك الفترة بزخمها وضجيجها من حلو ومر في حياة الدوماني...
