"السبي الثالث" هي رواية لا تستنطق أبطالها، فيها الأبطال يتحدثون من تلقائهم، يتحدثون لأن الذاكرة تشيخ، فيعتري المشهد لون كالظلال فلسطين في ذاكرة حمدان محسن الناظر.
هو فلسطيني ولد في يافا حمل ذاكرته إلى بقاع كثيرة من الأرض. رأى بداية التجاعيد فأسرع إلى تدوين ما في ذاكرته، خاصة وإن ولده الوحيد محسن استعار ذاكرة مكان آخر.
حمدان محسن الناظر لم يكن يحلم عندما تراءت له درب على حدود زرقة مترامية.. ظنه الطريق إلى يافا.. فسار عله يحظى بزيارة قبر أمه فيها، لكن للدروب حراسها. صحيح إن المايجور داوود كان مسلحاً، إلا أنه لم يطلق النار..
فقط وضع شرطاً على حمدان للسماح له بالوصول إلى يافا. لعل هذا الشرط هو ما جعل حمدان يكتب مذكراته.. أراد أن يطلع الآخرين عليها، فكانت رواية السبي الثالث. تلك الرواية التي تصف الدروب التي سار عليها الفلسطينيون وهم خارجون من فلسطين.. لكنها ترسم في الوقت نفسه طريق واحداً للعودة إليها.
