تعد ثورة الإمام الحسين عليه السلام من الأحداث القلائل في التاريخ الإسلامي التي حفرت لنفسها صورة حية على صفحة الزمن لا تمحى على مر الأعوام والقرون الوسطى. وقد تناولها المئات بل الآلاف من الشعراء والأدباء والمفكرين والاستراتيجيين بالتحليل والبحث والتمحيص ولربما اتسع ما كتب ونظم عن هذه الثورة رفوف مكتبة كبيرة. لكن على رغم كل ما كتب فثمة خقائق وأفكار يمكن أن تضاف إلى أدبيات الثورة الحسينية، ذلك لأن واقعة الطف تتجدد مع عمر الزمن. وهذا الكتاب هو محاولة لفهم جديد للثورة الحسينية على ضوء واقع الأمة الإسلامية الراهنة، وهو في الأصل جزء من موسوعة كربلاء الحضارية، يبتدأ الكتاب بتحليل دقيق ومفصل للدولة الأموية، وبعد ذلك يقف عند عناصر الثورة، ويسأل هل كانت ثورة الحسين تمتلك العناصر الضرورية المكونة لأية ثورة أم لا؟ ثم يدرس الخطط والأساليب التي أنتجها الإمام الحسين عليه السلام.
وهي بحق ثروة كبيرة للباحثين في الاستراتيجية وفي الفكر السياسي الإسلامي والإنساني. ثم يدرس نتائج هذه الثورة على صعيد الأمة والسلطة والعقيدة ليخلص في نهاية المطاف إلى أن ثورة الإمام الحسين عليه السلام في ذاكرة الأمة وبحاجة إلى من يعيدها إلى الحياة لتساهم في بناء مستقبل مشرق للأمة الإسلامية المكافحة ضد تيارات الجهل والاستداد.
