ومصطفى السباعي اسم انطلق من الشام وتردد في مصر والسودان... وفي الهند وباكستان وفي غيرها من البلدان... لم يكن السباعي عالماً فحسب، ولكنه بطل من أبطال الجهاد في الإسلام... سقط شهيداً في صميم المعركة... وسكت لحظة كان العالم الإسلامي في أمس الحاجة إليه... كان عظيماً... وليس العظيم من السباعي فقط أنه ألف عشرات الكتب، وألوف المقالات والخطب... فالمؤلفون كثر... وليس العظيم فيه فقط أنه جاهد الاستعمار وتعرض للحبس والنفي والتشريد، فالمجاهدون كثر... وليس العظيم فيه فقط أنه برز في كل نواحي النشاط العلمي والديني والسياسي؛ فكان مؤلفاً، وأستاذاً محاضراً في الجامعات الكبرى ورئيساً لقسم الفقه الإسلامي في جامعة دمشق، ونائباً لرئيس مجلس النواب، فهناك بين العباقرة من لهم مثل هذا النشاط في مختلف الميادين... السباعي عظيم لذاك كله ولكن الأكثر عظمة فيه، أنه أصيب بالشلل في شقه الأيسر، وظلّ مع يأسه من الشفاء يمارس نشاطه وجهاده في فراش المرض، وفي غمرة الآلام المبرحة، عدة سنوات، لا ينكفئ، ولا يفتُر، ولا يشكو، ولا يتبرم، ولا يصرف وجهه لحظة عن حب الله ورسوله حتى لفظ آخر أنفاسه....
وهذا الكتاب هو السباعي في عيون وفكر بعض من هؤلاء الذين عايشوه... والكتاب حصيلة كلمات أملتها المحبة.... أملتها العواطف الإسلامية التي غذاها فكر السباعي... وهو حصيلة كلمات نعى فيها المسلمون فكراً وروحاً نعى المسلمون إنساناً قال كلمة الحق، جاهد وناضل وقارع لإعلائها... ليموت في نهاية معركته في سبيلها شهيداً.
