لا شك أن حياتنا الفكرية أضحت كثيرة التوجهات نظراً لتعدد المعارف والآراء وتباين النصوص والخطابات، مما جعلها تفرز نوعاً من الإحتمالات والقراءات المختلفة، وصار البحث عن الحقيقة شغل الشاغلين الذين يسعون إلى كشف اللبس والغموض محاولين بذلك الوقوف عند مراميها المنشودة، هذه الحقيقة التي طالما بحث عنها الإنسان ولا يزال يسعى وراءها حتى اليوم وبكل الطرق والآليات، ومن ثم كان التأويل سبيلاً وطلباً ملحاً في حياتنا الفكرية التي يسودها الإغتراب وتعقد المعارف والأفكار وتشعبها.
قام الكاتب بتقسيم البحث إلى ثلاثة فصول رئيسة يحوي كل منها على مبحثين، الفصل الأول بــ : التصوف والتأويل دلالات وأبعاد، بحيث تناول في المبحث الأول معنى التصوف لغةً وإصطلاحاً، وحقيقته بإعتباره أحد المظاهر البارزة في التراث العربي الإسلامي مع الوقوف على أهم الخصائص التي يتميز بها هذا الإتجاه المعرفي وعرض لمسار الحركة الصوفية عبر فترات من تاريخنا الإسلامي.
أما البحث الثاني فتطرق فيه إلى عرض مفهوم التأويل في الثقافة العربية الإسلامية، ومختلف المعاني التي جاء بيها مع ذكر أهمية وضرورة هذا المجال في الحياة الفكرية لدى الإنسان.
أما الفصل الثاني فحمل عنوان: التجربة الصوفية وآليات الخطاب، وشمل المبحث الأول المجال أو الموضوع الذي يسعى التصوف إلى البحث فيه مع ذكر أنواع مختلفة للمعرفة الصوفية، أما الفصل الثالث والأخير جاء معنوناً بــ: التصوف لدى ابن عربي مقاربة تأويلية، حيث شمل المبحث الأول على عرض أهم قواعد المنهج لدى ابن عربي، زيادةً على توضيح ما يسلكه كطريق أو منهج من خلال عمله التأويلي، وأهم دواعيه في تأويل النص الديني.
