هذا ويؤمن كاتب هذه الدراسة، بأن الشعب المصري، وكل البشر، يستحقون أن يعيشوا في مناخ خال من التعذيب. فهذا الشعب، مثله مثل أي من شعوب العالم، الذين يتمتعون بحد أدنى معقول من الديمقراطية، بمعناها البرجوازي، على الأقل، يستحق الديمقراطية والحرية، بلا ديكتاتورية ولا طغاة.
