تناولت هذه الدراسة موضوع " مدى الالتزام الدولي باحترام حقوق الأسرى في العراق وفقاً للمواثيق الدولية "، فوجدنا أن قواعد القانون الدولي الإنساني خاصة اتفاقية جنيف الثالثة لحماية أسرى الحرب لعام 1949 قد أحاطت الأسرى بحماية خاصة تلتزم بها الدولة الآسرة منذ وقوع الأسرى في قبضتها وحتى تاريخ عودتهم إلى أوطانهم. إلا أننا وجدنا أن الأسرى العراقيين في معسكرات الأسر الأمريكية البريطانية في العراق خلال فترة غزو العراق واحتلاله، قد عانوا من عدم احترام والتزام القوات الأمريكية البريطانية بالقواعد الخاصة بحماية حقوق أسرى الحرب الواردة في المواثيق الدولية
