قبل بضعة عشرة سنة، درست الأدب ونصوصه في جامعة محمد بن سعود الإسلامية بالرياض، حتى سنة 1413 هـ ( 1993 م ) فحاولت أن أسعى مع غيري إلى التعرف والتعريف بهذين الفنيين، وحاولت أن أدخل بطلابي في هذين المجالين، تنظيراً وتطبيقاً، فكتبت عن التمثيلية كتاباً وعن القصة هذا الكتاب وحاولت فيه أن أبين عناصر القصة، وكيفية بناء هيكلها لكي تكون كتاباً أولياً يستعينون به في فهم ما يقرأون من قصص، وما يشاهدون من مسرحيات وأفلام. وقد حرصت على أن يناسب طلاباً لم يقرأوا من قبل شيئاً مذكوراً عن فن القصة، سوى لمحات لا تشكل صوراً مكتملة، فعمدت إلى التبسيط والتسهيل، وحرصت على التفهم والتعليم، وتقريب البعيد وتأليف الريب، ولذك إتبعت الحديث عن أصول القصة بتطبيق حاولت من خلاله أن أحلل بعض القصص. وكانت المحاولة شاقة، لأنني كما حرصت على التبسيط والتقريب، حرصت على الدقة العلمية، وفن القصة فن غربي النضوج، فمصادره الأصلية أجنبية، وشواهده الأصلية أيضاً أجنبية، ولم يكن لي يد من الإعتماد على الكتب المترجمة في هذا الفن، لأنني لم أتعلم غير لغة الأم ( العربية ) ولاسيما كتاب ( بلاغة الفن القصصي ) لـ ( وين بوث ) و ( نظرية الرواية ) لـ ( جورج لوكاش ) و ( فن الرواية ) لـ ( كولن ولسن ). بالإضافة إلى ما كتبه العرب مقتبساً من الأصول الأجنبية ككتاب الدكتور محمد يوسف نجم ( فن القصة ) وكتابات محمد مندور. وحرصت على الإستشهاد بالقصص الأجنبية المترجمة، فدرست منها العشرات، لشهرة هذه القصص، وكونها من الشواهد الأصلية، وأضفت إلى ذلك الإستشهاد بالقصص العربي عند رواده وفرسانه.
