"في العاشر من حزيران 1967 كنت في القدس، كانت المعركة قد انتهت، وجيش إسرائيل يملأ المدينة، وكانت الجثث تملأ الشوارع ولا تجد من يحفر لأصحابها قبراً، أو يهل عليهم خفنه من تراب، شعوري وشعور كل الناس، كان مزيجاً من القرف والذل والقهر... والهزيمة، في هذا الجو، انتشرت إشاعة تقول: إن إسرائيل تعد مذكرة إلى الأمم المتحدة، تحمل تواقيع السكان العرب، تطالب بإقامة دولة فلسطينية تنهي حالة الحرب مع إسرائيل، وتنتهي بالتالي قضية فلسطين إلى الأبد... الجميع بلا استثناء آمنوا إن النهاية دنت، وإن الجولة الأخيرة انتهت، وإن علينا أن نقبل الواقع ونستسلم. أبعد هذه وهذه الأعوام الطويلة من التحصين والاستعداد.
تحتل إسرائيل القدس وأجزاء كبيرة من الوطن العربي في معركة هي أشبه بنزهة" كان مجرد التفكير في أي نوع من أنواع المقاومة يثير السخرية والشفقة والابتسام، وبعد شهر، عندما عبرت جسر الدموع أحمل حقيبتي بيدي، وذلي فوق ظهري، كان ذلك الشعور لا يزال يجتاحني، ويحركني. إلى أن انطلقت الرصاصة الأولى تعلن "الثورة الفلسطينية" الجديدة ضد إسرائيل ثورة عام 1967 هذه الرصاصة أعادت إلي والى ملايين العرب، الكرامة التي هدرت والأمل الذي ... مات. "وكان إن كانت هذه القصة التي يسجل فيها الكتاب، والصحفي "نبيل خوري" الأحداث والتطورات التي شهدتها سنة 1969، ومأساة مقتل صديقة "يوسف" الذي شهد مصرعه في القدس على يد الصهاينة.
