هذه رحلة حج همدية، صاحبها محمد صديق خان بن حسن بن علي بن لطف الله الحسيني البخاري القنوجي، ابو الطيب، من رجال النهضة الإسلامية المجددين. ولد عام 1247هـ/1832م في قنوج بالهند، ونشأ فيها وتعلم في دلهي، سافر إلى بهوبال طلباً للعيش ففاز بثروة وافرة. قال في ترجمته لنفسه: "ألقي عصا الترحال في محروسة بهوبال، فأقام بها وتوطن وتمول، واستوزر وناب، وألف وصنف"، وتزوج بملكة بهوبال، ولقب بنواب عالي الجاه أمير الملك بهادر. له نيف وستون مصنفاً بالعربية والفارسية والهندية.
يستفيض الرحالة الحج في شرح شؤون الفقه والشعائر الإسلامية، ولا سيما ما يتعلق منها بالمناسك والواجبات والفروض اليومية المترتبة على الحاج، ولا يهمل مسألة من المسائل المتعلقة بالأماكن المقدسة وكيفية زيارتها وما قيل فيها مما تعددت فيه الاجتهادات والآراء والمرويات، واستأثرت باهتمام الفقهاء والباحثين وشغلت حيزاً من مدوناتهم.
نص الرحلة، التي بدأت يوم الإثنين 27 شعبان 1285هـ (14 ديسمبر/كانون الثاني 1868م) يحتفي بوصف الطريق من بهوبال إلى بومباي إلى ميناء الحيدة اليمني فإلى ميناء جدة، ومن هناك إلى مكة المكرمة والمدينة المنورة، وقد دامت الرحلة حوالي ثماني أشهر.
