يهدي الشاعر السعودي ديوانه الشعري الأول هذا إلى أمه: "إلى أمي المساحة تتسع لما يمكن أن يقال. فاغفري ضعفي، وبلّلي غيابي بالدعاء. لا زلت طفلا كما أنا. "كما أن وجودها طغى على مواضيع قصائده، كما طغى طيفها على أبياته، وخرج من ذاكرته الأولى: "أمي الصغيرة إبنة العشرين لم تعرف أبي"، و"ها أنا الآن أذكر أمي ترعى الكروم وتنسى قطيع براءتها"، ومن لحظة ولادته: "لم تشتك أمي تعسّر مولدي فالطلق داهمها بقرب البيت"، ومن ذكريات طفولته: "حين تسأل أمك عنك وأنت على رعشة من أنين المسافة تدرأ عنك الطفولة نورسها"، ومن حزنهما المشترك: "ستهجر أمي حنّاءها بعد كنعان حزنا ستدرك أنّا خلقنا لتجمعنا دمعة واحدة"، "فاتركي الدمع يا أم لي سرّجي القلب دفء طمأنينة من دعاء حنون"، ومن مصدر حمايته: "حينما آذنتنا الشوارع بالقيظ كانت تظللنا أمنا ظهر يوم رحيل".
لغة شعرية خاصة، لا تسيطر على الانفعال ولا تبحث عنه، فقط تسرد على سجيتها غير الهادفة وغير الموّجهة، ما يعتمل في ذات الشاعر من أحاسيس، وما يمر في فكره من معان وما طبع في ذاكرته من صور. إذ "هكذا دون أدنى اكتراث يخبئ أشعاره ولئلا تمر سريعا عليها فتحصي المفاصل في قلبها هو الآن يكتبها خلسة"، و"مثلما يقف الباب في عتمة الدار منتشيا كنت أسرج ضوء القصيدة مكتفيا بالصهيل".
لتأثير الأنثى لديه وقع توق وحزن وخيبة: "هكذا دون أدنى اكتراث يودعها: القصيدة حلم صغير على مرفأ القبلة الدافئة"، فـ"جنونك كان مدامي وضحكتك غيمتي كنت أكبر خلف عصافيرها والحمام"، وهي جرح يقمع فعل الكتابة: "ما أكتب والمد الآخر من قلبي مثقوب والدمعة سهم سهم من خيبة أنثى"، فيقارنها بالوطن: "والنساء كأخبارنا الوطنية كالوطن المتقوّس بالحزن والذكريات".
ينظّم الشاعر قصائده في ثلاثة أجزاء هي: "ربما"، و"ليس الآن" و"نصوص قصيرة".
شعر يحمل بصمة ونوعية مختلفتين عن المألوف بمضامينه وتركيبته وبوحه، في هذا الديوان الأول لشاعر وضع حجر الأساس في موقعه الشعري المميز، لينطلق في مسيرته الشعرية الخاصة.
