الشيخ حسن علي الأصفهاني المعروف بالنخودكي من كبار العرفاء والزهاد وأصحاب الكرامات المشهورين الذين عاشوا في أواخر القرن الماضي إلى أواسط هذا القرن. ولعل الكرامات والعجائب المنقولة عنه والمشهورة بين العام والخاص قد بلغت في النوع والكم مرتبة لم يبلغها ما نقل عن أحد غيره من العلماء.
ولقد كنا نسمع كراماته وقصصه من بعض أجلة العلماء مما أوردت عندنا حب التعرف أكثر إلى سيرته وأفكاره ومسلكه إلى أن صدر هذا الكتاب الذي حرره ابنه حوله فجمع فيه ترجمة لحياة والده وحياة أستاذه وبعض العرفاء ثم ذكر حوالي مئة قصة من كراماته مما عايشه بنفسه أو سمعه من الثقاة وقد كنا سمعنا بعضاً منها نحن أيضاً من بعض أجلى أهل المعرفة وكبارهم، إلى جانب رسائله وكتبه وأخيراً بعض بياناته ومواعظه وكتاباته حول مواضيع متعددة في العرفان والأخلاق وخلاصة ممتعة لسيرة هذا العظيم وأفكاره ومسلكه وكنت كلما توغلت في هذا الكتاب أكثر كلما لمست حجم الفوائد التي يحتويها واقتنعت بلزوم ترجمته إلى العربية أكثر.
