يقول رسول الله (ص): "الدعاء مخ العبادة". ولكن الداعي يجب أن يتصف بصفات تؤهله أن ينال من ثمرات الدعاء.. وكان أئمة الإسلام خير مثال في التذلل والخضوع لله تعالى في عبادتهم. ومن أفضل من علم (الدعاء) أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب، فوهب لنا تراثاً مليئاً بجملة من أدعيته التي ملأت الأسماع، ورققت الدعاء. ومن أهم أدعيته تلك؛ الدعاء المعروف بـ "دعاء كميل بن زياد" وكان من أهميته أن تناوله طائفة من الأعلام بالشرح والتفسير. والكتاب الذي - بين أيدينا - هو شرح رائع نمقه السيد جعفر بن محمد باقر، حفيد العلامة السيد مهدي بحر العلوم الطباطبائي. وتصدى لتحقيقه وتوثيقه الأستاذ فارس حسون كريم، خدمة للدين والمؤمنين.
يخبرنا الكتاب: أن كميلاً بن زياد رأى أمير المؤمنين (رضي الله عنه) ساجداً يدعو بهذا الدعاء في ليلة النصف من شعبان، وعلمه لكميل، وهو ما يعرف عند المسلمين بـ دعاء الخضر (عليه السلام).
يقول الإمام علي (رضي الله عنه) مخاطباً كميل: "... إذا حفظت هذا الدعاء فادع به كل ليلة جمعة، أو في الشهر مرة، أو في السنة مرة، أو في عمرك مرة، تكف وتنصر وترزق، ولن تقدم المغفرة. يا كميل، أوجب لك طول الصحبة لنا أن نجود لك لما سألت"، ثم قال (رضي الله عنه): "اكتب" ثم ذكر الدعاء".
تأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كونه وكما يظهر من عنوانه - شرح كلام أمير المؤمنين (رضي الله عنه)، وهو الدعاء المروي عنه المشهور بـ "دعاء كميل بن زياد". وقد استنسخ الكتاب وفق المطبوعة الحجرية، عمل المحقق على مقابلتها وضبط صحة ما استنسخها من الطبعة الأصلية التي طبعت في حياة المؤلف في النجف الأشرف.
