يمثّل هذا الكتاب بحسب الدكتور عبد الكريم الحبيب "رؤيةً صوفيّةً متفرّدةً، إذ يطرق باب الوجود من ناحيتيه الإيمانيّة والصوفيّة لأن الباحثة الدكتورة ناتالي الخوري غريب أضاءت شمعةً وضّاءةً في محراب النفس الإنسانيّة، في قراءتها شعر الأب ميشال الحايك، متتبّعة حقيقة الوجود كما نظر إليه، بدءا من عالم الهيولى والخطيئة الأصليّة والحنين إلى الفردوس، ومن ثمّ حالة الغربة وعدن المنفى والضجر، وصولا إلى طلب الخلاص والموت، مع هاجس القلق على المصير، لتَخُطَّ معه قصّة العبور والمعاد".
إن الكتاب ليس مجرّد دراسة للشعر، بل هو استغراق في بحار الحال، إذ ترفع الباحثة صليبها أيقونةً روحيّةً لتعانقَ الوجودَ وتتحد به اتحاد الشاعر الأب الحايك الذي أفنى حياتَه، في خضَمِّ الوجود، وقدّم نفسه قربانَ علمٍ وإيمانٍ في خدمة الكنيسة. لذا، من ينظر إلى هذا الكتاب، لا يجده دراسةً لشعرٍ روحيّ، بل يجده ثريّا متلألئة بالفكر، لأنّ الباحثة عميقة التفكير باستنباط ذرى الفكر وإعادة صوغها، بناء على مرتكزات الشاعر الفكريّة والثقافيّة والدينيّة، لتجد معه مصير العالم هو الحياة بعد الموت، لأنّ الموت ليس فناءً، بل هو بقاءٌ في رحم الأبديّة".
