التصور الإسلامي لحقيقة الإنسان، تصوّر وسطي بين تصورات كثيرة ومختلفة قديمة وحديثة، فالإنسان في التصور الإسلامي روح ومادة، جسد ونفس، ولك واحد منهما خصائص ومقومات يرتكز عليها، وقد أشار القرآن الكريم والسنة النبوية المطهرة إلى هذه الخصائص التي منحه الله إياها للقيام بمهمة الخلافة في الأرض، وتحقيق الهدف الرباني من هذا الوجود للإنسان على سطح البسيطة.
وحين وهب الله الإنسان هذه الخصائص: من نفس تواقة، وعقل مفكر، وجسد متحرك، فإنه جل وعلا أعطاه حرية الإختيار، فكان للإنسان رغبات وطموحات، تترجم إلى عالم محسوس، ولا تنتقل إلى عالم الحس والوجود العيني إلا بإرادة قوية ومصممة على العمل والتنفيذ، ولا يحد هذه الإرادة والهمة القوية عن المضي في تحقيق العمل إلا صواف خارجة عن قدرتها البشرية، فيكون العمل حينئذ في غير مقدورها، وتدخل في دائرة العذر الذي يعفيها من اللوم والعتاب.
فالعمل، إذاً، قدرة وإرادة، ولكن الإرادة هي العنصر الأول، الذي ينبثق عنه الإنجاز البشري في صوره الحضارية ودوراته المتعاقبة.
ومن هنا كان البحث محاولة لقراءة الإرادة في الفكر الإسلامي وتصور كينونتها وكيفية تربيتها وتزكيتها لتكون ضمن سياق الإرادة الإلهية الشرعية وينأى بها عن سياق الضلال (والله يريد أن يتوب عليكم ويريد الذين يتبعون الشهوات أن تميلوا ميلاً عظيماً) [النساء:27].
